Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is the largest and most comprehensive cardiac care centre in Pakistan, providing advanced medical services to patients from all over the country. Dr Muhammad Ali Jinnah founded the institute in 1948 under “Cardiac Hospital”. It was later renamed “Punjab Institute of Heart Diseases” in 1965. In 1972, it became affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. In 1982, it was granted autonomous status by the Government of Punjab and renamed “PUNJAB INSTITUTE OF CARDIOLOGY”. The PIC has recently published its annual report for 2022, which highlights some interesting statistics. For example, the number of cardiac surgeries performed at the institute increased by 17% from 2016 to 2022. It also notes that the number of new cases of heart disease diagnosed in Pakistan was estimated to be around 1.7 million per year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligibility requirements:<\/span><\/h2>\n

1. Doctor of Medicine (MD);<\/span><\/p>\n

2. MBBS;<\/span><\/p>\n

3. MD in Cardiology\/General Surgery or any other relevant speciality;<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Must be a Citizen of Pakistan<\/span><\/p>\n

5 years of experience required;<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Should have completed training in cardiology\/surgery & should have worked in an equivalent capacity;<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Should be able to work independently while handling emergencies on his own (with some supervision);<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Should be willing to serve in a remote location for six months per year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Educational Qualification:<\/span><\/h3>\n

Master’s or Masters’s degrees are preferred, but Bachelor’s degree holders can also apply.<\/span><\/p>\n
